Abode Money is a property tax savings platform designed to help users only pay what they owe on property taxes, and not a penny more. It does this by automating the property tax appeals process. 

Is Abode Money legitimate, and are there comparable alternatives? According to Abode Money, it has a high success rate with most clients seeing "meaningful reductions" in their property tax bills. And they charge an annual subscription fee, so pricing is predictable. In this Abode Money review, we'll share everything you need to know.

What Is Abode Money? 

Abode Money is an AI-powered fintech startup focused on making homeownership more affordable by lowering the cost of property taxes. Launched in 2023 by a Harvard Business School grad, Abode Money claims to have helped more than 50,000 homeowners save money on property taxes.

What Does It Offer?

Abode Money's primary service is automated property tax appeals, but it also offers tools for reducing insurance and utility bills.  

How It Works

Abode Money has created a framework that covers everything from property evaluation to submitting your case to the county, handling communication, and year-round monitoring. Here's how the process works, step-by-step: 

Step 1 - Get a Free Savings Estimate: You can sign up with Abode Money within minutes and receive a free property tax savings estimate. You'll need to submit your property address, and Abode Money will let you know whether it thinks you're being overcharged for property taxes. There is no obligation to continue using their service. 

Step 2 - Automated Case Building: If you decide to proceed with an appeal, Abode will pull your public property data, analyze comparable properties, and prepare a full appeal package that aligns with your county's requirements. 

Step 3 - Filing and Communication: Abode files your tax appeal paperwork with the county and handles all of the back-and-forth communication with property assessors. You don't need to lift a finger.

Step 4 - Ongoing Monitoring: Even after an appeal is resolved, Abode will continue to watch your property's assessed value each year (you pay an annual subscription fee). They will file new appeals automatically on your behalf if they determine that your home has been overassessed. This won't always be the case. 

Step 5 - Automatic Savings Tools: As mentioned, Abode Money can also help you find better insurance rates and identify utility savings that could further lower your homeownership costs.

Abode Money Savings Guarantee

In addition to transparent, flat fee pricing, Abode Money also offers a Savings Guarantee. It states the following: 

1. You only pay one annual fee. Abode Money never takes a percentage of your savings.

2. If you don't realize any property tax savings, Year 2 is free. 

3. While unlikely, if you don't save money within 2 years, you can get a refund.

How Does Abode Money Compare?

There are very few platforms like Abode Money. The closest alternative would be Ownwell, which offers a similar service but uses a different pricing model. Instead of a subscription fee, Ownwell charges a contingency fee, which means they only get paid if they can save you money on property taxes. If so, they will take a percentage of your savings. If they don't find you savings, their service is free. 

How Do I Open An Account?

The process for getting started with Abode Money is simple. Head to its website, click the green "Get Started" button, enter your address, and sign up in less than a minute. Abode Money's automated platform will then guide you through the process and confirm your property details. You'll need to provide Abode Money with the authority to request property tax appeals on your behalf. Once you're set up, your work is done, and Abode Money takes over. 

Is It Safe And Secure?

Abode Money is a newer business, so it's reasonable to have questions about its legitimacy. The company has had an A rating with the Better Business Bureau since June 2025. It offers a detailed privacy policy on its website, where you can find more information on how it protects users' information.

Is It Worth It?

Abode Money is an interesting option for homeowners who suspect their property taxes are too high, but don't want to go through the hassle of appealing their assessment on their own. There is no upfront cost, no contingency fee model, and you can opt for ongoing monitoring. 

I don't like that they aren't upfront about pricing on their website. They mention a subscription fee, but there's no indication of how much it is or how it's determined. Ownwell, on the other hand, charges a contingency fee but explains how it calculates the cost and provides a fee example on its website. If you’re interested in signing up with Abode Money, keep in mind there’s no guarantee you’ll save on property taxes - but you will help ensure your home is properly assessed and reduce the risk of over-assessment or unexpected increases.
