What Is Docmerit?

Siddarth Dubey founded Docmerit in 2019. Docmerit is an online platform that connects students to study materials. As a student, you can sign up for free to post your individual study notes to the platform. Other students can purchase these study notes for years to come.

Since its founding, over 500,000 study materials have been posted to the platform. As of writing, over 50,000 students use the platform to buy or sell study materials. Students from over 15,000 universities and colleges from around the world have used Docmerit.

What Does It Offer?

Docmerit is a marketplace for students looking to buy or sell study materials. The sheer amount of documents available makes Docmerit a worthwhile resource for students looking for extra help.

But if you are already building excellent study materials for yourself, the seller’s side of the platform holds more interest. For the purposes of this review, we will take a closer look at the opportunity Docmerit offers sellers.

Post Study Materials For Free

If you have study notes you’d like to sell, it’s free to post them to Docmerit. Some of the accepted study materials include:

  • Class notes
  • Course notes
  • Manuals
  • Textbook summaries

The key is that you must hold the copyright for the document. For example, you cannot post old exams or textbook chapters that were written by someone else.

If Docmerit catches you posting materials that you don’t own the copyright for, they will take down the document and possibly suspend your account.

Choose Your Own Price

When you upload study materials, only you will know how much time and energy you put into building out the information. With that, it’s only fair that you should set the price for your documents.

You can choose any price for the document, starting at $1.50. Docmerit recommends playing around with the pricing for your documents to find the sweet spot. The goal is to strike a balance between enough value on your end at a price point students are willing to pay.

Docmerit Review: how the seller portal works

Build Passive Income

After you upload a document, it will stay available on Docmerit until you remove it. Students can continue to buy the materials for years to come. If you have a popular set of notes, you might find a long-term stream of passive income through Docmerit.

Of course, coursework changes over time. If your study materials become obsolete due to changes at the university, then this passive income stream could evaporate.

Student Reviews

When someone purchases your study materials, they have an opportunity to write a review. If you are creating an excellent product, these reviews can help you stand apart from the crowd. Over time, a series of positive reviews could boost your sales.

Fast Payment

When you make a sale, Docmerit will send the proceeds quickly. According to the website, you should expect to receive your portion of the sales price through your PayPal account within 48 hours.

Not only is the payment from Docmerit fast, but it’s also through an easy-to-use platform. PayPal is a reputable payment platform that you shouldn’t have any trouble setting up.

Docmerit Review: payment options

Are There Any Fees?

Yes.

As a student looking for study material, you’ll pay a one-time price for each document you download from Docmerit. The size and quality of the document will have an impact on the price.

As a student seller, you’ll receive 85% of the sale price, which means Docmerit keeps 15% as a commission. Students can set their own sale price, so you’ll be in control of how much you’ll earn per each purchased document.

How Do I Contact Docmerit?

If you need to get in touch with Docmerit, you can submit a message through their website. According to the website, someone is available 24/7.

If you choose to work with Docmerit, the reviews suggest you can expect a reasonably good experience. The company has earned 4.1 out of 5 stars on Trustpilot, however there were less than 30 reviewers at the time of writing this piece.

How Does Docmerit Compare?

If you want to turn your study materials into cash, Docmerit isn’t the only choice.

Nexus Notes is a platform that offers an income stream when you upload original notes. While you cannot set your own price through Nexus Notes, you will earn a percentage of subscription sales generated by your document.

If you are looking for a platform that offers a one-time fee for your class notes, OneClass might be a better option.

Official note takers can earn a few hundred dollars per class. Additionally, OneClass allows you to upload study materials and snag a percentage of any subscription sales you generate.

How Do I Open An Account?

If you want to open an account, it’s easy to sign up. You’ll need to provide an email address, your name, and a few other details. A password is required to finalize your account. Once your account is open, you can start uploading documents immediately.

When someone purchases your documents, you’ll get paid via PayPal. The email you provide is linked to your PayPal account to Docmerit.

Is It Safe And Secure?

Docmerit offers a legitimate way to earn money by selling your study materials. According to the platform, it keeps the personal information from your account safe through HTTPS encryption.

Since your payment is routed through PayPal, you won’t have to worry about sharing bank information with Docmerit.

Is It Worth It?

If you already make excellent study materials, or want a motivating reason to build great notes, Docmerit offers a way to monetize this skill.

The amount you will earn varies dramatically. Some schools and courses are more popular than others. And, of course, the quality of your notes will come into play.

Any student looking for a passive income stream might find exactly what they are looking for through Docmerit. But be realistic about your earning potential. While it likely won’t cover your tuition, this income could pay for a fun splurge every now and then.
