What Is Sproutt?
Sproutt is a health technology start-up that wants to take your lifestyle information and use that data along with artificial intelligence to predict your quality of life. By doing so, they want to “reward” you with the best life insurance policy out there.
Traditional life insurance policies are notorious for punishing people for prior health conditions they may have and unhealthy lifestyle choices.
Instead of punishing people, Sproutt wants to flip that model upside down. Instead of shutting people out because of their lifestyle choices, Sproutt actually wants to use their technology to help people make those healthy choices so that they can access the best life insurance.
The QL Index Score
As soon as you arrive at Sproutt’s website, their home page says this is “life insurance that rewards your lifestyle choices.”
What exactly does that mean?
Well, it turns out that Sproutt calculates what they call the “Quality of Life Index” (QL index score).
This QL index score covers five lifestyle areas: movement, sleep, emotional health, nutrition, and balance.
To get your QL index score, you will have to take a test that takes about 15 minutes.
Using data and artificial intelligence, Sproutt is then able to match you with a life insurance policy that will make sense for you.
Apart from using your QL index score to match you to life insurance products, Sproutt will also give you personalized suggestions based on how you could improve your QL score and get access to even better life insurance.
No-Exam Life Insurance
Standard life insurance policies require a medical exam and can take weeks to get approved. With no-exam life insurance policies, you can get a life insurance policy quickly and without a medical exam.
The advisors at Sproutt can help you find the best no-exam life insurance policy if you’re in a situation where you need to get life insurance quickly.
If you’re in good health and your QL index score looks good, a Sproutt advisor can help you locate a no-exam life insurance policy quickly.
So If They’re Matching People, How Does Sproutt Get Paid?
Sproutt is essentially a life insurance broker. So they have a relationship with the life insurance companies who pay them a commission for every new client they bring.
This could suggest that Sproutt could be biased in choosing and recommending life insurance policies (and hence, companies) to clients.
However, they have a statement on their website that says: “To ensure objectivity, we set our employee compensation scheme in a way that makes them indifferent to which insurance company the customer selects.”
So at the very least, they have stated that they strive towards objectivity when it comes to recommending life insurance policies that suit your situation.
Sproutt is an independent broker, so at this time, they do not work for any one life insurance company.
You Can Speak to a Real Person
If you’ve ever been frustrated that you can’t talk to a real person at any insurance company, you will like Sproutt.
You can call 1-888-786-3917 on Monday through Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. Eastern Standard Time to speak to someone about your life insurance needs.
If You Don’t Want to Talk to Someone, Know You Can Do Everything Online
Don’t want to talk to anyone about your life insurance? You can complete your whole application online through Sproutt’s website.
However, you should note that the insurance company you sign up with may still want to have a phone interview with you.
How Does Sproutt Compare?
Sproutt is one of the newest online term life insurance companies. Where they are different is that they are trying to save you money on insurance via their QL Index score.
As always, make sure you shop around and see the list here of the best online life insurance companies.
With that in mind, here's a quick comparison:
10, 15, 20, 25, 30 Year
10, 15, 20, 25, 30 Year
10, 15, 20, 30 Year
Sproutt is a very new company and so we will get to see how effective their system works once they’ve been around a while.
Nonetheless, I think their plan to get people to take the quality of life test is a good one.
My slight concern is that asking someone to sit down and take a 15-minute test might be a stretch for them. However, if the person is really in the market to get the best life insurance, they might not mind.
Again, we will see how that pans out.
But overall, this tech-based insurance start-up seems to be moving in the right direction. So if you’re in the market for a good life insurance policy, go ahead and check them out.
