Wisconsin Laborers' District Council Scholarship Fund
Offered by Wisconsin Laborers' District Council (LIUNA)
About This Scholarship
The Wisconsin Laborers' District Council — the statewide LIUNA body representing construction laborers across Wisconsin — runs a scholarship fund for the children and grandchildren of its members. Unlike the spring-deadline cycles most union scholarships follow, this one closes in mid-November, with scholarship money going out in late December or early January.
Eligibility reaches further down the family tree than most member-family programs: both children and grandchildren of LIUNA Wisconsin members in good standing can apply, and the award can be used at two- or four-year universities, colleges, or technical schools. The council keeps the process clean by excluding families of union officers and fund trustees, and past winners cannot repeat.
The award amount is set each year by the Scholarship Fund's Board of Trustees rather than published in advance. Recipients already in school receive their funds in January 2027, while high school seniors who win receive theirs in July 2027 ahead of fall enrollment.
