Wings Over America Scholarship
Offered by Wings Over America Scholarship Foundation
About This Scholarship
Wings Over America Scholarship Foundation serves the Navy aviation community with one of the more predictable award structures in the military scholarship space: a minimum of 50 scholarships every year, each worth $5,000, with some renewable for additional years. The foundation covers tuition and mandatory fees at trade and technical programs, community colleges, and four-year universities alike.
Eligibility spans the whole Navy aviation family. Dependent children, spouses, and grandchildren of U.S. Navy aviation personnel — officer and enlisted, active duty, retired, honorably discharged, or deceased — may apply. Dependent children must be unmarried and generally age 23 or younger. Selection weighs scholastic merit, community service, extracurricular activities, and character, and the foundation redacts personal information from applications so the selection process is blind.
The process runs in two stages. A pre-qualification form opens October 1 and must be completed by February 1 at 5:00 p.m. Eastern; qualified applicants then complete the full application, due March 1 at 5:00 p.m. Eastern. Missing the pre-qualification window means missing the year entirely, so families should start early.
