USBC Annual Zeb Scholarship
Offered by United States Bowling Congress
About This Scholarship
The USBC Annual Zeb Scholarship awards $2,500 to one youth bowler who shows what USBC calls the spirit of giving back. Unlike the Star of Tomorrow awards, the Zeb is weighted mainly toward community service, with academic success as the second pillar — bowling ability is not the point.
Applicants must be current USBC members in good standing in their junior or senior year of high school. The standard USBC scholarship package applies: 3.0 unweighted GPA minimum, transcript, two recommendation letters, three years of proof of bowling participation, a photo, and a 500-word-minimum essay.
For a league bowler with a strong volunteering record, the Zeb is one of the most accessible national awards in the sport: it takes one application cycle, the same December 1 deadline as USBC's other youth scholarships, and the money is managed through the SMART program until used for education.

Frequently Asked Questions
Does my bowling average matter?
No. The Zeb Scholarship is based mainly on community service, with academic success also considered. You need to be a USBC member who bowls, but your scores are not judged.
Can I apply for the Zeb and a Star of Tomorrow award in the same year?
The programs share one application window and requirements, and USBC lets eligible members apply to its youth scholarships. Each individual award can be won only once.
When do I find out?
USBC announces its youth scholarship winners in the spring following the December 1 deadline.
