USBC Alberta E. Crowe Star of Tomorrow
Offered by United States Bowling Congress
About This Scholarship
The Alberta E. Crowe Star of Tomorrow is the United States Bowling Congress's marquee award for young women in the sport, worth $6,000 to one female high school junior or senior who competes in bowling. Named for a pioneer of women's bowling, the award looks at the whole bowler: on-lane performance, academics, and extracurricular and civic involvement all factor into the selection.
Applicants must be USBC members in good standing, and the general USBC scholarship requirements apply: a minimum 3.0 unweighted GPA, a high school transcript, two letters of recommendation, three years of proof of bowling participation, a photo, and an essay of at least 500 words. USBC caps AI assistance on the essay at 15%.
Because the award goes to one bowler nationwide each year, competitive league and tournament results matter here more than in USBC's service-focused awards. A bowler can win the Crowe award only once, and funds are held in the SMART (Scholarship Management and Accounting Reports for Tenpins) program until used for education.

Frequently Asked Questions
Do I have to be an elite bowler to win?
Bowling performance is a major factor for this award, alongside academics and community involvement. USBC's Earl Anthony and Zeb scholarships weigh service and academics instead, so less competitive bowlers have other USBC options.
How is the money paid out?
USBC youth scholarship winnings are deposited into the SMART program, a managed scholarship account you draw on for tuition and eligible education expenses after high school.
Can I apply as a junior and again as a senior?
You can apply in both years, but each bowler may win the Crowe award only once.
