About This Scholarship
The Foundation Fellowship is the University of Georgia's premier undergraduate academic scholarship, run through the Jere W. Morehead Honors College. The published numbers are unusually transparent: in-state Fellows receive $15,050 per year plus the Zell Miller Scholarship (worth $10,034 per year), out-of-state Fellows receive $25,900 per year plus a Presidential waiver worth $19,040 per year, and international Fellows receive $28,800 per year plus the waiver.
The money is only half the program. Fellows get three fully funded spring travel-study programs (valued at $13,500), a fully funded summer at the University of Oxford after first year (valued at $9,000), individual travel-study grants up to $10,000 cumulative, and research and conference grants up to $2,000. It is a global-education machine attached to a scholarship.
Applying means submitting a First-Year Admission application to UGA, then completing the Morehead Honors College/Foundation Fellowship application from your status page by November 1. Finalists are notified by late January and must attend a mandatory interview weekend in February — no alternate dates are offered, so plan around it.
Eligibility
- High school senior applying for first-year admission to the University of Georgia
- Dual-enrolled high school seniors and international students are eligible
- Transfer applicants and students who have matriculated at another university are not eligible
- Finalists must attend the mandatory February interview weekend (no alternate dates)

- From your UGA status page, open the Morehead Honors College/Foundation Fellowship application
- Submit the Fellowship application by November 1
- If named a finalist (late January), attend the mandatory interview weekend in February
