About This Scholarship
The Scholarship Foundation of Indian River County has been offering hope, encouragement, and scholarship opportunities to Vero Beach-area students since 1965. At its 61st Annual Awards Ceremony in May 2026, the foundation awarded $841,154 in new need-based scholarships to 49 local students — including twelve recipients already in college — for study at 21 colleges and universities across seven states.
Awards are substantial and tailored to each student's financial need, ranging from $4,000 to $30,000, payable over the two, three, or four years each recipient is expected to take to finish an undergraduate degree. That multi-year structure makes this one of the larger county-level scholarship commitments in Florida.
Beginning November 1, 2026, applications open for the Class of 2027; all high school seniors graduating in 2027 and students now in college can review eligibility criteria on the foundation's site. The deadline for completing the Eligibility Form, the first step in the process, is January 13, 2027.
