PCCA Scholarship Program Opening Soon
Offered by PCCA Education & Research Foundation (Power & Communication Contractors Association)
About This Scholarship
The Power & Communication Contractors Association is the national trade association for the contractors who build power lines, fiber networks, and other utility infrastructure, and its Education & Research Foundation runs one of the more generous family scholarships in the utility construction industry. Up to four PCCA Scholarships are awarded each year, each worth $10,000, paid out as four annual $2,500 disbursements over up to four years of study.
Eligibility runs through a family connection to the industry: applicants must be dependents of full-time or regular part-time employees of PCCA contractor or associate member companies, with the employee having at least one year of continuous service as of January 1 of the academic year. Students can be high school seniors, current undergraduates, or young adults ages 18-24 who are not currently enrolled, and the money can be used at four-year colleges, community colleges, or vocational-technical schools — a lineworker or utility technology program counts just as much as a bachelor's degree. A 3.0 GPA and full-time enrollment (12+ credit hours) are required.
The foundation also funds smaller $1,000 "Who Will Do the Work?" scholarships for technical certificate students at State Technical College of Missouri, which are open beyond member families. Applications for the 2027-28 academic year open November 15, 2026, and the standing deadline is February 15 for the upcoming academic year, with recipients announced in the Q2 issue of the PCCA Journal.

Frequently Asked Questions
Can I use the PCCA Scholarship for a lineworker or trade program?
Yes. The scholarship can be used for full-time study at a vocational-technical school as well as two- and four-year colleges, so powerline and utility technology programs qualify.
How is the $10,000 paid out?
The award is distributed as four annual $2,500 disbursements. You can receive up to four years of funds as long as you stay eligible, including your parent remaining employed at the PCCA member company.
What if my family doesn't work for a PCCA member?
The main scholarship requires the member-company connection, but the foundation's $1,000 'Who Will Do the Work?' scholarships for technical certificate students at State Technical College of Missouri are open more broadly.
