About This Scholarship

The Oregon Society of CPAs Educational Foundation funds two scholarship tracks for students on the CPA path in Oregon, both running on the same annual timeline. The flagship CPA Scholarship awards $3,000 to $5,000 to students at accredited Oregon universities (and WSU-Vancouver), $3,000 to community college transfer students, and $1,000 to Oregon community college students. It requires a 3.2 GPA both overall and in business and accounting courses, and applicants must intend to pursue a CPA career in Oregon.

The second track, the Accounting Access Scholarship, is built for lower-income students: applicants must be Federal Pell Grant or Oregon Opportunity Grant eligible, and the GPA bar drops to 2.5 in business and accounting courses. Awards run up to $5,000 at Oregon universities and up to $3,000 at community colleges, and recipients sign a letter of intent to become a professional accountant in Oregon. It is one of the few state CPA society programs explicitly designed around need-based access rather than pure merit.

Neither track requires an essay. The application asks for unofficial transcripts and an online educator reference; Access Scholarship applicants also upload their 2027-28 FAFSA Submission Summary. For the 2027-28 cycle, applications open November 5, 2026 and close January 18, 2027.

Eligibility

  • CPA Scholarship: enrolled full- or part-time (6+ credit hours per term) at an accredited Oregon institution or WSU-Vancouver during 2027-28, with a 3.2 GPA overall and in business/accounting courses, intending to pursue a CPA career in Oregon
  • Accounting Access Scholarship: Federal Pell Grant or Oregon Opportunity Grant eligible, 2.5+ GPA in business/accounting courses, at least one business/accounting course completed, pursuing an accounting degree or certificate with intent to become a professional accountant in Oregon

How To Apply

  • Complete the online application at orcpa.org between November 5, 2026 and January 18, 2027. Upload unofficial transcripts (through December 31, 2026 coursework) and arrange an online educator reference; Accounting Access Scholarship applicants also upload their 2027-28 FAFSA Submission Summary and sign a letter of intent if selected.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need to write an essay?

No. The OSCPA Educational Foundation application is built around your transcripts and an educator reference rather than essays, making it one of the lighter-lift accounting scholarship applications.

What if my GPA is below 3.2?

The Accounting Access Scholarship only requires a 2.5 GPA in business and accounting courses — but you must be Federal Pell Grant or Oregon Opportunity Grant eligible to qualify for that track.

Can community college students apply?

Yes. Oregon community college students can receive $1,000 CPA Scholarships (or up to $3,000 Access Scholarships), and community college transfer students heading to a four-year school can receive $3,000.

Why Trust The College Investor

The College Investor has helped millions of readers navigate paying for college and student loans since 2009. Every scholarship in our database is individually reviewed by our team before it goes live, and re-checked regularly so deadlines and links stay current.

Our Scholarship Standards

A listing here means our team checked that the award is real, currently active, and actually pays out. We won't list a scholarship that:

  • Charges any kind of fee to apply
  • Makes you join a paid membership, or sign up for an app or service, just to be eligible
  • Has a privacy policy that would let the sponsor sell or misuse your information
  • Collects essays, ideas, or contact details mainly to feed the sponsor's marketing
  • Can't show a winner from the past 12 months, or offers no way to reach the sponsor

One nuance: established companies and nonprofits that run applications through their own systems may still be listed, even though creating an account there is part of applying.
