NRHyA Affiliate Regional Scholarships
Offered by National Reining Horse Youth Association
About This Scholarship
The National Reining Horse Youth Association awards Affiliate Regional Scholarships at each NRHA Affiliate Regional Championship — $1,500 for first place and $1,000 for second at every Affiliate Championship, including the Canada, Mexico, Europe, and Oceania regionals. The amounts were raised to these levels in 2025.
Eligibility is tied to competition: applicants must compete in an Affiliate Regional Championship Youth Team Tournament and be entered in the ARC Youth 13 & Under or ARC Youth 14-18 class. That makes this a true youth-sports scholarship — the money follows participation in the sport, with an application rather than an essay contest deciding who collects.
For reining families, this is one piece of a larger ladder: the Reining Horse Foundation also runs ten academic/need-based scholarships for high school seniors (totaling $30,000, from $1,500 up to $5,000) and $1,500 merit scholarships for former NRHyA members already in college, with the next merit application posting in January 2027.

Frequently Asked Questions
How many scholarships are awarded?
Two per Affiliate Regional Championship — $1,500 for first and $1,000 for second — across all NRHA regions, including Canada, Mexico, Europe, and Oceania.
What if I'm already in college?
Former NRHyA members in college or trade school can apply instead for the Reining Horse Foundation's $1,500 Merit Scholarships; that application posts in January 2027.
Is there a scholarship for high school seniors who don't compete at an ARC?
Yes — the Reining Horse Foundation's academic/need-based scholarships award $30,000 across ten scholarships ($1,500 to $5,000) to seniors, judged on need, academics, and NRHA involvement.
