NFALA Foundation Law Student Scholarships

About This Scholarship

The National Filipino American Lawyers Association (NFALA) Foundation awards a slate of scholarships each fall to law students across the country, anchored by the $10,000 Raymond L. Ocampo Jr. Family Scholarship. The 2026 lineup also includes the $3,000 NFALA President's Annual Scholarship, an LGBTQ+ Scholarship of $2,000 to $4,000, and a $1,500 Government and Public Interest Scholarship for students working in government, public-sector, or nonprofit roles.

Applicants must be enrolled in a J.D., LL.M., or S.J.D. program at an accredited U.S. law school. Importantly, there is no paid-membership gate: students qualify either through membership in NFALA or one of its regional affiliates, or by demonstrating past or current service to the Filipino American community.

The application is refreshingly light — a resume, law school transcript (or enrollment certification for first-year students), an application form, and optional recommendation letters, all submitted by email as a single PDF. There is no application fee.

Eligibility

• Currently enrolled in a J.D., LL.M., or S.J.D. program at an accredited U.S. law school
• Member of NFALA, a regional affiliate, or an affinity network — or demonstrated past/current service to the Filipino American community
• Government and Public Interest Scholarship applicants must show qualifying government, public-sector, or nonprofit work during the 2025-26 or 2026-27 academic years
• First-year students may submit an enrollment certification in place of a transcript
