Modern Woodmen High School Senior Scholarship Opening Soon
Offered by Modern Woodmen of America
About This Scholarship
Modern Woodmen of America, a fraternal financial services organization founded in 1883, puts $450,000 a year into scholarships for its graduating high school senior members. The program runs on two tracks: Track 1 awards 48 scholarships ranging from $2,500 to $10,000 for students with a 3.5+ GPA, and Track 2 awards 150 scholarships of $1,000 each with a 2.5+ GPA threshold — 198 winners in all, every year.
The membership requirement is tied to the organization's products: applicants must be Modern Woodmen members covered by a Modern Woodmen life insurance policy or annuity for at least one year as of January 1 of the award year. For many families this is simply a normal part of their financial planning, and a child covered by a juvenile policy qualifies as a member.
Beyond grades and membership, applicants need at least 40 hours of volunteer service in the previous two years and must be planning to attend an accredited college, university, or trade school. Applications run through Scholarship America, a major independent administrator, from November 1 to the first Monday in February.

Frequently Asked Questions
How do I become eligible if my family already has Modern Woodmen products?
If you are covered by a Modern Woodmen life insurance policy or annuity, you are a member. The coverage must have been in place at least one year as of January 1 of the year the scholarship is awarded.
What are my odds compared to national scholarships?
Because the pool is limited to member students, 198 awards per year is a comparatively deep field — Track 2 alone gives out 150 awards of $1,000.
