About This Scholarship
The Hampton Roads Community Foundation is southeastern Virginia's largest scholarship provider, drawing on more than 90 scholarship endowments established by charitable donors since 1950. Its undergraduate program serves students from South Hampton Roads — the Norfolk, Virginia Beach, Chesapeake, Portsmouth, and Suffolk area — heading to two- and four-year colleges.
One general online application covers the full program: the foundation automatically considers each applicant for every scholarship they qualify for, so students never need to sort through individual funds. Most awards expect applicants to have graduated (or be graduating) from a South Hampton Roads high school, to demonstrate financial need, and to enroll full-time; some funds also serve current undergraduates.
Applications for the following academic year go live on December 1, and completed applications are due March 1 at 11:59 p.m. (a few funds, such as theological scholarships, run later). Applying is free, and separate graduate, medical, and theological scholarship tracks exist alongside the undergraduate program.
