About This Scholarship
Founded in 1978, the Greater Worcester Community Foundation has grown into the largest source of scholarship support for students from the Worcester County area of Massachusetts. A single online application opens the door to more than 140 unique scholarship funds established by local donors, families, and businesses.
Most awards go to high school seniors living in the 60 cities and towns of Worcester County, but current college students and adults pursuing a first bachelor's degree are also eligible for many funds, including at two-year colleges and trade schools. The application asks for transcripts, short-answer responses, and an essay; recommendations are optional for most funds.
The cycle opens December 1 and closes in late February, with decisions released in early May and funds distributed to schools by early July. The foundation matches each applicant to every scholarship they qualify for, so one application covers the full slate at no cost.
