About This Scholarship
The Cochlear Graeme Clark Scholarship honors the pioneer of the multichannel cochlear implant and recognizes Cochlear Nucleus implant recipients who demonstrate academic achievement and a commitment to leadership and humanity. Academic winners receive $2,000 per year for up to four consecutive years of undergraduate study, worth up to $8,000 in total support.
Cochlear Americas awards at least six academic scholarships each year across its two named programs, plus at least one vocational award of $2,000 per year for up to two years for recipients pursuing trade or technical training. Applicants need an unweighted GPA of 3.0 or higher for the academic track and must be accepted to an accredited post-secondary institution.
Applications open in the spring and close September 30 each year, with winners notified by the end of the following January. Each student may receive the scholarship only once, and U.S. and Canadian citizens are eligible.

- Must be a Cochlear Nucleus cochlear implant recipient
- U.S. or Canadian citizen
- High school graduate accepted to or enrolled in an accredited post-secondary institution
- Minimum 3.0 unweighted GPA for the academic scholarship
- May receive the scholarship only one time; Cochlear employees and their families are ineligible

- Submit transcripts, proof of acceptance or enrollment, and the required written responses about your goals and experience with hearing loss
- Submit by 11:59 p.m. Mountain Time on September 30; winners are notified by January 31
Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need a specific brand of cochlear implant to qualify?
Yes. The Graeme Clark Scholarship is open only to recipients of the Cochlear Nucleus implant. Baha and Osia recipients apply through the companion Anders Tjellström Scholarship instead.
Is the award renewable?
The academic scholarship pays $2,000 per year for up to four consecutive years, so a single award can be worth up to $8,000. You can only win the scholarship once.
