About This Scholarship
Community Foundation of Henderson County's scholarship program began in 1984, and thanks to generous local donors it has since provided more than $10 million in scholarships to over 2,000 traditional and non-traditional students from the Hendersonville, North Carolina area pursuing higher education.
Students apply through the foundation's general scholarship application portal, which matches them with donor-established funds. The program serves undergraduates as well as students pursuing graduate and doctoral study in select fields — one example is the William L. Arbuckle Memorial Scholarship for freshwater fisheries and related studies.
Scholarship applications for the next cycle will open on or around December 1, 2026, and the foundation's posted timeline shows applications closing February 2, with screening and interviews in February and March. The portal remains closed until applications are officially being accepted, but guidelines and step-by-step directions are posted year-round. Questions go to [email protected] or (828) 697-6224.
