About This Scholarship

CAPTRUST, one of the largest independent investment advisory firms in the country, runs a twice-yearly scholarship that awards $2,000 each to five students nationwide. The fall 2026 window funds the spring 2027 semester, and winners are announced in February 2027 on the firm's social media channels. Unlike many corporate scholarships, this one is judged on substance: GPA plus the quality of four short essay responses.

The bar is high on grades. Applicants must be actively enrolled pursuing an undergraduate degree (incoming freshmen through seniors qualify) with an unweighted GPA of 3.7 or higher, and must be at least 18 years old. The essay portion asks for four responses of 200 words or less each, covering personal goals, accomplishments, career goals, and community impact. Essays that run over the word limit are disqualified, so editing discipline matters as much as content.

One structural quirk to know: only the first 2,500 eligible submissions per semester are considered, so applying early in the window is a real advantage. Students can only win once, and CAPTRUST employees and their family members are ineligible. A college or high school transcript must be uploaded with the application form.

Eligibility

  • At least 18 years old
  • Actively enrolled pursuing an undergraduate degree (incoming freshman through senior)
  • Minimum 3.7 unweighted GPA

  • Has not previously won the CAPTRUST Scholarship

How To Apply

  • Go to the CAPTRUST Scholarship page on captrust.com and open the application form
  • Write four essay responses (personal goals, accomplishments, career goals, community impact) of 200 words or less each
  • Upload your college or high school transcript with the completed form
  • Submit before November 30, 2026 at 11:59 p.m. ET - and apply early, since only the first 2,500 eligible submissions are considered

Frequently Asked Questions

What GPA do you need for the CAPTRUST Scholarship?

A 3.7 unweighted GPA or higher. This is one of the higher GPA cutoffs among corporate scholarships, and it is a hard requirement, not a preference.

How many students win the CAPTRUST Scholarship?

Five students across the country receive $2,000 each per submission window. The fall 2026 window pays out for the spring 2027 semester, with winners announced in February 2027.

Is there a limit on applications?

Yes. Only the first 2,500 eligible submissions per semester are reviewed, so submitting early in the window meaningfully improves your odds of being considered at all.

Why Trust The College Investor

The College Investor has helped millions of readers navigate paying for college and student loans since 2009. Every scholarship in our database is individually reviewed by our team before it goes live, and re-checked regularly so deadlines and links stay current.

Our Scholarship Standards

A listing here means our team checked that the award is real, currently active, and actually pays out. We won't list a scholarship that:

  • Charges any kind of fee to apply
  • Makes you join a paid membership, or sign up for an app or service, just to be eligible
  • Has a privacy policy that would let the sponsor sell or misuse your information
  • Collects essays, ideas, or contact details mainly to feed the sponsor's marketing
  • Can't show a winner from the past 12 months, or offers no way to reach the sponsor

One nuance: established companies and nonprofits that run applications through their own systems may still be listed, even though creating an account there is part of applying.
