About This Scholarship
The Boettcher Scholarship is Colorado's best-known merit scholarship, awarded by the Denver-based Boettcher Foundation since 1952. Each year 50 graduating Colorado seniors are named Boettcher Scholars and receive $20,000 per year for four years — $80,000 total — to attend a four-year Colorado college or university, along with access to grants, mentorship, and a lifelong scholar network.
The application opens September 1 and closes at 5 p.m. on November 1 of senior year. Students complete an online application with essays, and semifinalists advance through committee review and interviews before scholars are announced in the spring.
Eligibility centers on Colorado roots: applicants must be graduating Colorado high school seniors who lived in the state for their full junior and senior years. The foundation looks for academic excellence paired with leadership, service, and character, and the award requires attending an in-state institution.
