ASABE Foundation Engineering Scholarship
Offered by American Society of Agricultural and Biological Engineers
About This Scholarship
The ASABE Foundation Engineering Scholarship is the general-purpose counterpart to the society's machinery-focused Adams Scholarship: $2,000 a year to one undergraduate in biological or agricultural engineering, funded by member contributions to the ASABE Foundation. Unlike the Adams award, it carries no required specialty within the discipline.
The eligibility checklist mirrors ASABE's other Foundation awards: an ABET- or CEAB-accredited engineering curriculum, at least one year of undergraduate study completed and at least one remaining, a 2.5 GPA floor, and an attested need for financial aid limited to tuition, fees, books, and on-campus room and board. The selection committee may award more than one scholarship in a strong year — the 2025 cycle named a recipient from the University of Wisconsin-Madison.
Because ASABE caps students at one Foundation-funded scholarship per academic year, a practical strategy is to apply to both this award and the Adams Scholarship (if machinery design fits your interests) and let the committee place you.

Frequently Asked Questions
How is this different from the Adams Scholarship?
Both pay $2,000 with the same March 15 deadline and nearly identical eligibility, but the Foundation Engineering Scholarship has no agricultural-machinery focus requirement — any biological or agricultural engineering student can apply.
Does financial need matter?
Yes. Applicants must attest to the need for financial aid, which ASABE defines as tuition, fees, books, and on-campus room and board.
When will I find out if I won?
Recipients are notified in early June and announced publicly in a fall issue of Inside ASABE and by press release.
