AMS Graduate Fellowships
Offered by American Meteorological Society
About This Scholarship
The AMS Graduate Fellowship program backs outstanding students entering their first year of graduate school in the atmospheric or related sciences. Since the program began, 395 students have held AMS fellowships, and sponsors from industry and government keep the stipend pool funded year after year.
Stipends vary from $5,000 to $26,000 for a nine-month academic-year period, making the top awards among the largest society-funded fellowships in the earth sciences. Fellows also attend the AMS Annual Meeting as special guests with complimentary registration, hotel, and airfare, and receive ongoing academic and career support from the society.
The program casts a wide disciplinary net: applicants from atmospheric science, chemistry, computer science, engineering, environmental science, hydrology, mathematics, oceanography, and physics are all encouraged to apply, as long as the graduate degree itself is in the atmospheric or related sciences. Students who already hold a master's degree are not eligible.
