About This Scholarship
Most construction scholarships quietly assume a four-year degree. The AGC of Missouri Education Foundation built this one for everybody else: students in trade apprenticeships, technical colleges, and certificate programs headed straight into the skilled trades. The eligible fields read like a building trades union roster — bricklayer, carpentry, cement mason, electrical, floor layer, HVAC, heavy equipment, insulator, ironworker, plumbing/pipefitting, sheet metal, tile, and welding.
Three paths qualify: current participants in a trade apprenticeship program, students planning to enter the workforce directly in a skilled trade after graduation, and students enrolled in an accredited trade school, technical college, apprenticeship program, or community college earning a technical certificate, diploma, or associate degree. The foundation awards multiple scholarships each cycle, and it explicitly excludes four-year degree students, who have their own separate AGC of Missouri application.
The application opens in August and closes December 31, and requires two letters of recommendation plus proof of apprenticeship participation where applicable.
Eligibility
- Currently participating in a trade apprenticeship program; OR planning to enter the workforce directly in a skilled trade or technical field after graduation; OR enrolled in an accredited trade school, technical college, apprenticeship program, or community college earning a technical certificate, diploma, or associate degree
- Field of study must be a construction trade (bricklayer, carpentry, cement mason, electrical, floor layer, HVAC, heavy equipment, insulator, ironworker, plumbing/pipefitters, sheet metal, tile, welding, or other approved trade)
- Not for students pursuing a four-year academic degree

I'm already a union apprentice — am I eligible?
Yes. Current participants in trade apprenticeship programs are one of the three explicitly eligible groups, and applicants provide proof of apprenticeship participation with the application.
