Zeller Summer Scholarship in Medicinal Botany
Offered by The Garden Club of America
About This Scholarship
The Zeller Summer Scholarship is one of the more specialized awards in the Garden Club of America's portfolio: $3,000 to one undergraduate each year for summer study in medicinal botany, the science of plants used in medicine. If you are a biology, chemistry, botany, or pre-pharmacy student with a summer research project or field program touching on medicinal plants, this award was written for you.
Eligibility is broad within the undergraduate ranks — students may apply for summer study after any undergraduate year, freshman through senior — as long as they are currently enrolled at an accredited U.S. college or university. International applicants are ineligible because of IRS restrictions on the fund.
Applications are due February 1 preceding the summer of proposed study and may be submitted electronically through the GCA website or by mail to GCA headquarters in New York. Like every award in the GCA program, the Zeller counts as your single allowed GCA application for the year, so make sure medicinal botany — not one of GCA's other 28 awards — is the best fit for your plans.
