About This Scholarship
The Stephen J. Brady Stop Hunger Scholarship, awarded by the Sodexo Stop Hunger Foundation since 2007, recognizes students who are actively fighting food insecurity in their communities. National scholars receive a $10,000 academic scholarship plus a $5,000 grant directed to the hunger-relief charity of their choice — a rare structure that funds both the student and the cause.
Eligibility is unusually broad: students ages 5 to 25 can apply, from elementary schoolers running food drives to college students building food-recovery nonprofits. Judges look for creativity, leadership, and measurable impact in the fight against hunger, and applicants must have performed unpaid volunteer hunger-relief work within the past 12 months, backed by a recommendation letter from the organization they served.
Since its founding, the program has honored 101 national scholars and 265 Emerging Leaders, distributing more than $1.3 million. Winners also attend the annual Sodexo Charity Classic celebration event.
Eligibility
- Students ages 5 to 25 enrolled in school (elementary through college)
- Performed unpaid volunteer services impacting hunger in their community within the past 12 months
- Letter of recommendation from a representative of the hunger-relief organization served
- Demonstrated creativity, leadership, and impact in fighting food insecurity
