Ninety-Nines Amelia Earhart Memorial Scholarships
Offered by The Ninety-Nines, Inc.
About This Scholarship
The Ninety-Nines is the international organization of women pilots founded in 1929 with Amelia Earhart as its first president, and its Amelia Earhart Memorial Scholarship Fund has been helping members advance in aviation since 1941. The fund awards several distinct scholarships each year: a Flight Training Scholarship worth up to $20,000 for an additional pilot certificate or rating, an Academic Scholarship worth up to $10,000 toward a year of college study in an aviation or aerospace field, and a Technical Training Scholarship worth up to $20,000 for aviation technical certifications such as maintenance credentials.
Two specialty awards round out the program. The Vicki Cruse Memorial Scholarship covers emergency maneuver and spin training in full, and the Kitty Houghton Memorial Scholarship supports a woman pilot in a country with an emerging economy. Student pilots are served separately through the First Wings Award, which provides up to $6,000 and runs on its own April 1 and October 1 application dates.
Because the fund is a member benefit, applicants must belong to The Ninety-Nines, which is open to licensed women pilots and student pilots worldwide. Applications are completed through the organization's members-only portal, and the main scholarship cycle closes January 1 each year.
