About This Scholarship
Kaiser Permanente has supported California nursing students since 1989, and in 2001 named this program for Deloras Jones, RN, in honor of her 34 years of nursing leadership at the organization. The Northern Region program, administered by Scholarship America, serves Northern California residents enrolled in pre-approved Kaiser Permanente affiliate nursing programs — and, notably, is closed to Kaiser Permanente employees, making it a true community scholarship.
Awards are tiered by level of study: $2,000 for pre-licensure students in CA BRN-approved ADN, BSN, entry-level MSN, or RN-to-BSN programs; $2,500 for registered nurses pursuing an MSN or MN; and $3,000 for doctoral students in DNP, DNSc, or PhD nursing programs (the portal lists the overall range as $1,000-$3,000).
The academic bar is high — a 3.8 GPA for pre-licensure applicants and 3.5 for graduate and doctoral students — and applicants must be U.S. citizens or permanent residents who have completed at least one academic term including a clinical nursing course with a clinical rotation by the September 24, 2026 deadline.
Eligibility
- California resident residing in Northern California; NOT a Kaiser Permanente employee or affiliate
- Enrolled in a pre-approved Kaiser Permanente affiliate nursing program (ADN, BSN, entry-level MSN, DNP, DNSc, or PhD)
- Completed at least one academic term including one clinical nursing course with a clinical rotation by September 24, 2026
- Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.8 (pre-licensure) or 3.5 (graduate/doctoral studies)
- U.S. citizen or permanent resident (student visas and temporary work authorizations not accepted)
