Gemm Learning Dyslexia and Auditory Processing Disorder Scholarship
Offered by Gemm Learning
About This Scholarship
Gemm Learning, a provider of at-home learning software for reading and processing difficulties, awards a $1,000 scholarship each fall to a current undergraduate living with dyslexia or auditory processing disorder. The money is paid directly to the winner's school in December, and the winning essay is featured on the company's blog.
There is no application form. Instead, applicants email a 500-650 word essay titled 'Living With Dyslexia' or 'Living With Auditory Processing Disorder' along with proof of current college enrollment. That low-friction format makes this a realistic add-on application for students who already have a personal story to tell about navigating school with a learning difference.
One eligibility quirk matters: this award is for students already enrolled in a U.S. or Canadian college or university. High school seniors and students deferring enrollment are explicitly not eligible, and an acceptance letter does not count as proof of enrollment — you need a dated class schedule, student ID, tuition receipt, or enrollment letter showing the school's name. Note that by applying you grant Gemm Learning permission to publish your essay and full name whether or not you win.
