About This Scholarship
The Choctaw Nation of Oklahoma, one of the largest federally recognized tribes in the United States, funds its tribal members through college and graduate school via the Higher Education Program. Grants and scholarships are awarded each semester to members actively pursuing a degree at any accredited college or university, with award amounts set by the student's prior-semester GPA, classification, and enrollment status.
The program runs three application windows a year: August 1 through October 1 for fall, January 2 through March 1 for spring, and May 1 through June 15 for summer. Students apply through the Chahta Achvffa member portal each semester they want funding, and part-time students taking as few as three credit hours are eligible.
Funding continues semester after semester within generous limits — up to 6 semesters for an associate degree, 12 for a bachelor's, 6 for a master's, and 4 for a doctorate — making this a degree-length funding source rather than a one-time award for students who keep a 2.0 GPA.
