About This Scholarship
The Bering Straits Foundation is the education foundation of Bering Straits Native Corporation, the Alaska Native regional corporation for the Seward Peninsula and Norton Sound region. It funds original shareholders and their direct lineal descendants each semester: full-time undergraduates can receive up to $2,000 per semester, graduate students up to $3,000, vocational students up to $2,000, and part-time students $1,000.
Applications run per term through the MyCACHE portal. For spring semesters — courses beginning in January — the application opens October 15 with a December 1 deadline, giving students who missed the fall cycle a second entry point each year.
Awards require a 2.0 cumulative GPA and demonstrated financial need, and students reapply each semester they want funding, so the foundation works as a steady per-term supplement across an entire degree.
