About This Scholarship
The Geoscience Inclusion, Diversity, Equality, and Accessibility (IDEA) Scholarship from the Association for Women Geoscientists encourages women from under-served communities to pursue education and careers in the geosciences. Each year the program provides three IDEA awards of $2,500 each plus one $500 Rising Potential award, for four awards totaling $8,000.
The scholarship is open to undergraduate women enrolled at U.S. colleges and universities, and the money is only part of the value: winners are matched with AWG mentors to help guide their academic and career development, and each award includes a one-year sponsored AWG student membership. For students from communities underrepresented in the geosciences — a field with one of the weakest diversity pipelines in STEM — the combination of funding, mentorship, and professional membership is designed to remove several barriers at once.
Applications are due June 30 each year through the AWG scholarships page.
