Arkansas Single Parent Scholarship Fund
Offered by Arkansas Single Parent Scholarship Fund (ASPSF)
About This Scholarship
The Arkansas Single Parent Scholarship Fund (ASPSF) is a statewide nonprofit that has helped low-income single parents earn degrees and certificates since 1990. Scholarships are awarded three times a year - fall, spring, and summer - and scale with course load: $1,600 per term for students taking 12 or more credit hours, down to $400 for those taking 3 to 5 hours.
The program serves single parents in 69 Arkansas counties (plus Bowie County, Texas) who are pursuing a bachelor's degree, associate degree, professional certificate, or skilled-trade credential. Applicants must have physical custody of at least one dependent child, meet an income cap of 250% of the Federal Poverty Guidelines, and maintain at least a 2.0 GPA.
Beyond the check, ASPSF pairs recipients with local volunteer networks offering mentoring, tutoring, career and financial planning, and referrals to community services. Students can reapply every term they remain enrolled, making the award a recurring source of support through graduation.
