About This Scholarship
The Clifford H. "Ted" Rees, Jr. Scholarship Foundation — the charitable foundation of the Air-Conditioning, Heating, and Refrigeration Institute (AHRI) — has awarded more than $1.1 million to over 700 HVACR and water heating technician students since 2003. It is one of the most established scholarships aimed squarely at students training for heating, cooling, and refrigeration careers.
The foundation accepts applications year-round with two review deadlines: September 1 for fall semester awards and May 1 for spring semester awards. Scholarship money is sent directly to the school and credited to the student's account for tuition, books, and required costs, and every recipient also receives a free NATE Ready to Work certification test.
Applicants must be enrolled in an HVACR program at an institutionally accredited school. The application is fully online and requires background questions, a 500-word essay, two professional recommendation letters, and an official sealed transcript.
