About This Scholarship
The American Fire Sprinkler Association has run its scholarship program since 1996 as part of its push to teach the public about fire sprinkler safety and careers in the industry. The program gives out ten $1,000 awards a year across two contests, and Second Chance is the round for people who are already past high school: anyone with a diploma, GED, or equivalency who plans to attend an accredited U.S. college, university, or trade school can enter, including current college students and adults heading back to school.
Entry takes about ten minutes. You review AFSA's fire sprinkler safety material, fill out a short online form, and answer an eight-question quiz — no essay, no GPA floor, no income requirements. Five $1,000 winners are then drawn at random by computer, so your odds depend entirely on how many people enter. Enter exactly once; duplicate submissions get you disqualified.
The Second Chance round opens January 1 and closes September 1 each year, with funds sent directly to your school for tuition and books. U.S. citizens and legal residents are eligible, and previous AFSA scholarship winners can't win again. For a random-draw award, ten minutes is a reasonable bet.
