I was talking to a friend yesterday about saving up money for a vacation. He was remarking how he had been saving $100 per month for an entire year to save up for his Vegas Vacation. I was realizing how my wife and I never purposely saved anything for our trips, but if we had enough money saved in general, we would plan a trip.
Then, upon talking to one of my wife's friends, she was saying how she had different savings accounts set up for all types of things – vacations, kid funds, new car, etc. Each month, she would deposit a little in each account to ensure that each would grow. When looking at trips to take, she would wait until the vacation account had enough in it to go, and then she would book the trip.
