Gazelle – Get Cash for your Gadgets

I just stumbled across this website called Gazelle, where you can sell back your old electronics gadgets, such as phones and MP3 players.  This is a great alternative to selling on eBay, and in some cases, you may get more bang for your buck.

I recently found an old 3rd generation iPod Nano in my closet.  Since I got my iPhone, I haven’t used that iPod.  I was going to sell the thing on eBay, but then I read about Gazelle, and decided to give it a try.

Its very easy to use their website.  All you do is type in the item that you have, select the features and quality, and they will give you a quote.  If you accept the quote, they will give you a free shipping label, and you just mail them your item.  For my old iPod Nano, they offered me $16, which was great given that I don’t even use the thing!

I packaged up my Nano, mailed it, and 2 days later received confirmation that it was received.  Once Gazelle receives your item, they inspect it to verify everything you said about it online matches the item in person.  If it does, you get paid a few days later.  Quick, painless, and even better, I’m $16 richer.

To receive payment, they can send you a check, credit your PayPal account, or even give you an Amazon giftcard.  If you choose the giftcard, they automatically give you 5% more for your item!

Give it a shot.  Its eco-friendly, it can make you a few bucks, and its really easy!

Deal of the Month – Airline Mileage Malls

I have always been a huge proponent of getting free stuff for normal activities.  That is why I love these mileage malls.  Almost every airline has some type of mileage program.  Most consumers earn miles by flying, or by using a credit card.  However, the biggest secret that airlines keep is that they have mileage malls, where consumers can buy stuff online through normal retailers, and earn miles (sometimes up to 4 miles per dollar spent!).  These are websites that consumers normally shop through, such as Target, Nordstrom, Apple, etc.

For example, United has a Mileage Plus Mall that offers:

- 4 miles per $1 spent at Nordstrom

- 3 miles per $1 spent at Apple

- 2 miles per $1 spent at Target

- 2 miles per $1 spent Textbooks.com

Here is a list of the biggest mileage malls:

- United Mileage Plus Mall

- American AAdvantage Shopping

- Continental ShopOnePass

- Alaska Airlines Mileage Plan Shopping

- Delta SkyMiles Shopping

- Hawaiian Shop and Earn

- US Airways Dividend Miles Shopping Mall

Check them out.  Earn some points!

November Deal of the Month

For the November Deal of the Month, I don’t have an actual product, but rather a way for you to save big-time.

Since Black Friday is coming up – the busiest shopping day of the entire year – I thought what a better way to save than to look at each retailer’s ad ahead of time.  There are several websites that do this, and I’ve put the list here for you to check out:

October Deal of the Month

I’ve decided to start a new topic, which I will call The College Investor Deal of the Month.

For the month of October, I was browsing the internet for a new SD card for my digital camera.  I searched high and low, and the best deal I found was at Amazon.com and it had a new 2GB SD Card for $2.49!

Check it out here:
