We have two sons, a 12 year old and a 15 year old. We’re just starting to look into colleges and the costs and are so overwhelmed at the costs of colleges. We’ve tried to save over the years and will continue and we’re now trying to up that savings.
Getting a scholarship is such a great deal, especially if people plan on going into debt to pay for college! Too bad I was too lazy to thoroughly apply for every opportunity out there.
with two in college at the same time it has been struggle but thankfully they are great students nd got scholarships and any money they made some had to be put aside for education
Our older sons were lucky enough to land some scholarships and qualified for grants and loans. For our youngest, we have been putting away a bit each month to save for her college costs; every little bit helps.
I have just started my son’s college savings fund and add a little bit each month there. Hopefully we will have enough for at least first two years of college.
Im saving money to go back to school. It had been a hard jouney since I am an adult with responsibilities bur I know I will be be happy I did one day
We are saving for my two elementary school -aged children right now. We have 529 plans and a little in savings but I know with college prices on the rise it won’t be enough to finance both of their college educations.
In order to save money on increasing college tuition, I decided to go to school at Valencia College, a former community college, to obtain my AA degree. Afterwards, I will transfer to a public university to obtain my BA. It wasn’t an easy decision to make, but after realizing how much it would cost to attend college on-campus for four years, the choice was clear.
Saving for collage is hard, with three kids every penny in the piggy bank counts. So we put $50 every 2 weeks in accounts for each kid
I haven’t started savings for my son’s college yet but this is a great sweepstakes. My wife focus on grades and the possibility of community college for to make sure the kids know what they want before enrolling in a four year school. There are a lot of great two year degrees out there and with scholarships and grants, plus staying at home at least the first two years could be covered without loans.
We are working hard at saving for college! I have been meaning to join Upromise but haven’t gotten around to it until now! It looks like that will be a great way to earn some $$$!
That would be nice except my experience with upromise is its a scam. I signed up and bought so many upromise items and not once did I get a credit for it. Now they say you have to get their C.C. with unfavorable rates. Bummer
My parents saved some money for me for college and I plan to do the same thing for my kids.
Our sons are still young but we’re trying to save a bit here and there because we know they’ll be 18 before we know it!
I opened up a Savings Bond for both my sons when they were born, and hope to use the money towards their college education one day!
I started a college savings account when my daughter was born. I couldnt put in a whole lot maybe 10-20 a week but it really added up. She went to nursing school and with some grants she had enough to graduate.
I worked all throughout college and saved money, I paid off my student loan debt 2 years after graduating.
I joined the Army right out of high school, so I made sure to put money in savings account to be used towards college as I knew that I would have to complete a masters program to get into my field. Well, a lot of that “savings” was taken up with the birth of my kids. Fortunately, I had the GI-Bill to fall back on then. I still credit that as the only reason i could stay in school
I have a savings fund and make sure that any money that I have goes straight to it.
I made sure that when my daughter was born that I would have a savings account for her. I went through the Virginia plan so that by the time she was ready to enter college, everything would be taken care of.
I’ve basically been working and applying for scholarships in order to save up for college.
I started working when I was 16 and saved most of what I made for college.
When I went to college I worked to help pay the bills. My kids are young so I haven’t even given it consideration. I guess if I don’t do it now, it may be too late by the time I get around to it.
I was trying to save for college. Luckily my aunt helped.
My daughter is only a year old, so we haven’t started yet. But we will soon to ensure they get the education our future economy will require.
We haven’t had a chance to start saving yet but their grandparents give them a savings bond for every birthday and christmas that is meant for college.
We invested in the Texas Tomorrow Fund for our kids and it has turned out to be a great investment. Our oldest son just graduated and we only had to pay for his books!
We haven’t been able to save much for our son to go to college so thankfully he received scholarships and is living at home to save money.
I didn’t thinkin advance to save for college and now I’m paying for thousands.
