Back Pay For Military Families

October 4, 2010

Last year, Congress allocated funds for retroactive stop loss special pay of $500 for every month or partial month served in stop loss status.

Any service member, veteran, and beneficiary of service members who were involuntarily extended under stop loss between 9/11/01 and 9/30/09 are eligible.

Congress set aside over $500 million, but as of last month, only about $219 million has been claimed. This means that there are a lot of individuals out there who are due money, but have yet to claim it. The average benefit is $3,700!

The deadline to claim this benefit is 10/21/10. Please make sure you do and get what is rightfully yours.
