Insurance Stocks Look Good

June 22, 2010

Every week I run a stock screen to find great value stocks. Over the last month, I have noticed a continued trend in my screen results: insurance holding companies. They are showing good solid financials, they pay a nice dividend, are trading very close to book, and have a P/E ratio of less than ten.

Here are a few you may want to take a look at:

American Equity Investment Life Holding (AEL)

American Financial Group (AFG)

Aspen Insurance Holdings Limited (AHL)

Montpelier Re Holdings Ltd. (MRH)

Platinum Underwriters Holdings, Ltd. (PTP)

Protective Life Corp. (PL)

Reinsurance Group of America (RGA)

Safety Insurance Group, Inc (SAFT)

Tower Group, Inc. (TWGP)

Transatlantic Holdings Inc (TRH)

Validus Holdings, Ltd. (VR)

I will be following this list weekly and keep you apprised of the results. Check it out.
